About this product
Start with the cooking: dill seeds are a classic for traditional pickles, and they also suit breads, soups and slow-cooked dishes. Spicy Pantry describes the flavor as herbal, slightly sweet and mildly bitter, with warm, citrusy notes. Those notes open up when the seeds are simmered or baked, so they work well in brines, doughs and pots that cook for a while.
On the buying side, this is a four-size lineup: 4 oz, 12 oz, 2 lb and 5 lb. The smaller sizes suit a first try or an occasional recipe. The larger ones are worth a look if you pickle in batches or bake often. Every size comes in a resealable stand-up kraft pouch, and the seeds are Non-GMO. How to use and store
- Pickling: add the seeds to your brine so they can simmer or steep with the other flavors.
- Baking: work them into bread or other savory baked goods, where the heat brings out their warm, citrusy character.
- Soups and slow cooking: add them early to a simmering pot so the herbal, slightly sweet notes have time to develop.
